Said the doll to the orange: “It’s a bit of a shock
To have been on a sleigh and then put in a sock.”
Said the orange: “You’re lucky. Think how I feel.
You’ll be loved by a child whilst I'll just be peel.”
From up on the tree came a very loud squeal.
Said the poor little fairy: 'Well think how I feel.
'They’ve put me up here and I’m frightened of heights -
And it's terribly hot near to these little lights.
From a brightly wrapped box a teddy bear said:
'Oh stop all your grumbling! Be happy instead.
'Tomorrow is Christmas! There’ll be laughter and play -
And nobody grumbles upon Christmas Day!'
(Or do they?)
