Above a town called Bethlehem,
One starlit, wintry night,
Some shepherds sat amongst their sheep
Beneath the pale moonlight.
An angel of the Lord appeared
In raiment, shining bright.
The shepherds were quite terrified
And trembled at this sight.
"Don't be afraid," the angel said.
"My news will bring you joy.
This very day, in David's town,
Was born a special boy.
"Your Saviour, Christ the Lord, was born,
And lies now in a manger.
Go now and find this infant child.
You're not in any danger."
A host of heavenly angels came;
The sky was all ablaze.
"Glory to God, and peace to all,"
They sang in words of praise.
Of all the people in the world -
Well, do you find it odd -
That those who cared so well for sheep,
First saw the Lamb of God?
